Russian antitrust opens case vs MTS no-roaming ad, hearing Jul 21
MOSCOW, Jun 29 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has opened a case on violations by mobile operator MTS of the law on advertising and will consider it on July 21, the authority said Monday in a statement.
The watchdog said that in its commercial MTS has breached the law’s clause 5 with a statement on abolishing roaming across the whole country. Clause 5 contains general requirements to an advertisement, including signs of unreliability. The antitrust service also found violations in the advertisement of one of the company’s tariff options.
Mobile operator Scartel, known under the Yota brand and owned by mobile operator MegaFon, complained to the antimonopoly service earlier in June about the advertisement, saying that it is the only operator that does not charge roaming payments.
